This is a photo from my last train ride in Mexico, riding northbound from Sufragio/Los Mochis to Mexicali, headed back to the US. We had run out of food and water at this point but it was only a few more hours till we’d get to the border. A soldier at a military checkpoint near a siding gave us a huge box of crackers but made me get off the train and walk over to the checkpoint station so he could show me off to the other soldiers. He said that, without the proper proof, nobody would have believed that he had found two white kids riding a northbound freight train in Mexico.
This was the last of the rolls of film from Mexico I developed (got the film back today) and it’s all too strange to be reminded of my time spent riding trains through a mexican desert as I get ready to leave for a train trip through British Columbia and Alaska.
Anyways are there any people out there in BC (Vancouver, Squamish, Prince George, Prince Rupert areas specifically) or Alaska (Whittier, Anchorage, Seward areas specifically) reading? Let me know!
I want to do this so badly. Fuck my life. Fuck success. Fuck friends, fuck family. Fuck security. Fuck material assets. Fuck the illusion of financial assets. Fuck the narrative that is ME. I just want to go. (not to imply that there is anywhere to go)
